Amberley Country Estate is a Retirement Village founded in 2021 by the Bartells Group. Amberley Country Estate will be home for seniors and retirees who place a high value on their independence, friendships, a healthy lifestyle and healthcare. Our mission is to enrich the aging experience by providing better homes, fantastic amenities, superior care facilities and more opportunities for healthy and purposeful living. This benefits not just our residents, but also their families, our staff, and the wider community as well.

Tim Bartells
Founder

Owner of the Bartells Group, Tim Bartells brings over 30 years of property development experience to Amberley Country Estate.

 

His “big picture” thinking has been the driving force behind the concept, planning and design stages of the development and he is heavily involved in the architectural, engineering and project  management elements.
 

As the guy who often looks at something that already works well, then asks: “how can we make it better?”, Tim’s vision is to propel retirement village living into the future, using design and technology to support the three pillars of Comfort, Community and Care, and he is committed to ensuring that the highest standards are achieved and maintained.

Tim is working on several exciting Retirement Village Developments throughout New Zealand including Longridge Country Estate in Paeroa amd Springwater Country Estate in Putaruru.

Hamish Lamont
Sales & Marketing Manager

Hamish Lamont, our Sales and Marketing Manager spent 2022 and 2023 setting up and running the Village as Village Manager. Hamish is now focussing on finding new residents for the village and ensuring they will have beautiful new Villas to move into. 


Hamish has a background in tourism, sales and marketing, residential property development and energy efficient, sustainable construction and has been a marketing specialist in residential and commercial property development since 2004.

​

He has lived and worked in North Canterbury on and off much of his life and has has held senior management roles for some of New Zealand's most well known and innovative communities including Pegasus Town and Ravenswood. 

​

He holds a Bachelor of Business Management plus 8 other qualifications in business, marketing, management, HR and tourism. He is currently studying Philosophy at University in his spare time.

Hamish Ward is in charge of development and construction of the villas and facilities buildings at Amberley Country Estate.   

​

Hamish is an Amberley local with a huge passion for construction and dedication to the local community. His strengths lie in his leadership and attention to detail on large scale projects.

 

Hamish was led many large scale and notable, innovative construction projects throughout his career, recently completing the hugely successful Mainpower Stadium in Rangiora. He is a Member of the New Zealand Institute of Building, a member of Registered Master Builders Federation and a Licenced Building Practitioner.

 

He is always looking to support the local community, giving up some of his spare time to be a member of the Amberley Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Steve Hutt
Village Manager

Steve Hutt is our new Village  Manager.

   

Originally from England, Steve has called Amberley home for 13 years. Steve is a people person and has seen many years in public service roles.

​

Steve is also a big supporter of the local community and gives a lot of his spare time to local causes. 

​

Steve and his family also run the famous Nor'wester cafe and restaurant, a wonderful place for great food and coffee.
